Произход, история и културни дейности
The collection of the historian, teacher and politician Milan Hübl was founded by the Institute of Contemporary History of the Czechoslovak Academy of Sciences (now the Czech Academy of Sciences) in 1991. This collection was transferred to the institute as the estate of Milan Hübl, who died in 1989, through the library of the institute in July 1991. In the same year, the materials were studied by Dagmar Erbenová and a provisional inventory list was made. The collection was moved from the institute to the National Archive in 2011, where it is still located today (2018). The administrator is the 6th Section of Non-state Provenience and Archive Collections and is accessible for researchers. The materials have not been used by the institution for exhibition or publication purposes.
Due to the fact that the collection is the estate of the originator himself, the collection consists mostly Milan Hübl’s articles, essays and correspondence, but also materials by his friends which he himself collected; these include articles and texts written by important Czechoslovak cultural dissidents such as Václav Havel, Ladislav Hejdánek, Ludvík Vaculík, Eva Kantůrková, Josef Vohryzek, and Jaroslav Šabata. These texts were mostly written and copied on a typewriter and were circulated amongst the opposition as samizdat volumes. Many of them have not yet been published. Milan Hübl’s collection is very unique and valuable and the materials offer numerous opportunities for further research in contemporary history.
