László Adalbert Arany was a Hungarian linguist, teacher and ethnographer from Slovakia. After World War II he became the leading figure of an illegal movement. The movement mainly focused on the problems of the Hungarian minority in Czechoslovakia. Arany was sentenced in the Mindszenty trial to 8 years of labor.
The László A. Arany collection belongs to the Forum Minority Research Institute since 2007. The material was collected by Ferenc Ambrus (a historian from Rožňava), who acquired it from Arany's family. Hundreds of books from the collection have been digitalized, and manuscripts from the collection began to be digitized in 2008. In addition to the digitization of the collection, the Institute is working to identify the locations of Arany's photographs, and to establish the identity of the people in the photos.
