In 2004, the Museum of the Occupation of Latvia, in collaboration with the French Cultural Centre in Latvia, mounted the exhibition ‘The
French Group and Kurts Fridrihsons’, in which watercolour paintings from the collection were exhibited. This exhibition was a sort of tribute to the lifelong interest in French culture of Fridrihsons and his friends (Elza Stērste, Ieva Birgere-Lase, Maija Silmale, Mirdza Lībiete-Erss). It was recognised officially: in 1992, when the president of France Francois Mitterand visited Latvia, he met Ieva Lase and Mirdza Erss, and invited them to Paris for the celebration of National Day on July 14. The exhibition at the French Cultural Centre was met with interest by the general public and the press, because it was the first large exhibition about the ‘French Group’, and also the first public exhibition of this collection.
In 2005, in an extended way, the exhibition was shown at the Museum of the Occupation of Latvia.
At the initiative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Latvia, the exhibition was also shown in Tartu (Estonia) in 2005.
Artefacts from the collection were also used for an exhibition at the Liepāja Museum (Latvia), and in other provincial museums.
In 2009-2016, within the framework of the EEA project, the collection underwent restoration, and the results were shown at an exhibition organised by one of partners of the project, the Museum of the History of Riga and Navigation.
