Donation of the Pugwash Movement Collection to the Library of the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts (2014)
In agreement with Vedrana Juričić, the director of the Library of the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts (HAZU), Dr Bojan Marotti, turned over the Pugwash Movement Collection in 2014. Marotti curated the collection, which testifies the activities of the anti-nuclear movement in Yugoslavia and which was kept in the Institute for the Philosophy of Science and Peace (now the Philosophy of Science Division of the Institute for the History and Philosophy of Science of the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts). The Institute was the heart of the Pugwash Movement in Croatia and Yugoslavia under socialism. At the beginning of the 21st century, Marotti arranged and organised the materials in the collection and opened it to the public several times as part of the HAZU Open Doors Day (2011-2014). He felt that it would be useful to merge the collection with the HAZU Library to make the materials more accessible to users and the general public.
The collection no longer exists as a whole because it is integrated into the rest of the Library’s inventory in the interest of rational use of space. The journals and books from the collection have been incorporated into the Library’s collections of periodicals and books respectively. The Library forwarded a smaller portion of the materials (leaflets and smaller brochures) to the HAZU Archives. All of the books and journals have been listed in a searchable catalogue and are classified by UNIMARK and ISBD standards.
