In his manuscripts, Miko Tripalo addresses the work of Josip Broz Tito as the most important political factor in socialist Yugoslavia. From one of the most promising younger politicians, whom many saw as Tito's successor, Tripalo became a critically oriented reformist and ultimately a dissident. The manuscript from early 1978 constitutes an analytical review by Tripalo on the current situation in which he underscores Tito's role in the construction of Yugoslav socialism. Tripalo's analysis testifies to the continuity of his political reflections on Croatian and Yugoslav communist history from the perspective of a dissident and the maturation of critical discourse that would characterize Tripalo's advocacy for a democratic Croatia after the introduction of political pluralism in the early 1990s.
